Tennis court lights are charged at £6 per hour equally divided across all the members listed in the court booking. Lights automatically come on based upon the time of the year.
The time court lights come during a booking is shown in the table below:
Month | Time |
January | 3.30pm |
February | 4.30pm |
March | 5.30pm |
April | 7.00pm |
May | 7.30pm |
June | 8.30pm |
July | 8.00pm |
August | 7.30pm |
September | 6.30pm |
October | 5.00pm |
November | 3.00pm |
December | 3.00pm |
The main reason the lights come on automatically is due to the type of lighting system we have. If the lights are switched off for any reason they physically cannot be turned on again for 15 minutes, this has caused issues in the past when the lights were controlled via the console in the clubhouse.
Each time is based upon the average time of sunset for a given month and includes an allowance for poor light days. These times have been published on the club website for ease of reference.
If a member books a court for a time starting at or after the time shown above they will automatically be charged for lights. For the occasions when it is lighter in the evening or early in the month it is advised to book court 3 which does not have lights.
